Where Are You on the Publishing Timeline?

Publishing Timeline
"If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed."
- David Viscott, psychiatrist and businessman (1938-1996)

Our market research is designed to support your entire book development process. Whether you bring us your book concept, an outline, a draft, a completed manuscript, or a published book you'd like to revise for a new edition, we have a tool or service that's just right for you.

Our Tools & Services

AuthorBound conducts a variety of customized online reviews and surveys. Using our tools and methodology, our market research team helps you dig deep for information from your reviewers, asking proven and effective questions in an appealing format to make your book better for your intended market. Content is embedded, as required, including documents, PDFs, images, audio, video, and web pages. We screen and select target participants, using our own board of reviewers, the AuthorBound Advisors, and your own contacts, then gather their feedback and recommendations.

Market Opportunity Analysis (MOA)

In 25-30 questions, we test the marketability of your concept with individuals who would be part of your audience within your area of interest and expertise. We measure trends, reader attitudes and preferences, satisfaction levels with competitive books, and ultimately, market needs and opportunities. The Market Opportunity Analysis includes content such as your concept statement, table of contents, chapter descriptions with benefit statements, book features and any additional materials.

Content Assessment Portal (CAP)

Reviewers are asked to read finished chapters to thoroughly grade and comment on each element of a complete manuscript or book, resulting in the CAP Scan, a color-coded report card, which graphically displays the strengths and weaknesses of the product. A simple mouse click gives you the "drill-down" into each chapter or section to mine specific grades and quotes from each reviewer.

Cover-to-Cover Preview (3 Minute 360 Preview)

As a pre-publication tool, the Cover-to-Cover Preview helps you test features of your book against the competition and accurately message or position your book. It also serves as a promotional tool for your published book by highlighting key features and benefits of your product contrasted with examples from competing products. Embedded content, graphics, audio, video or web links showcase these features for readers to rate them and give additional feedback.

Dynamic Book Proposal

The AuthorBound Dynamic Book Proposal goes beyond a traditional book proposal to present the results of your Authorbound market research in print and electronic form and enhanced with media.

Virtual Focus Groups (VFGs)

VFGs are professionally moderated online focus groups of six to ten pre-screened and qualified reviewers who participate through telephone and Internet from the comfort of their own homes or offices. Our online pre-event questionnaire prepares the moderator to understand participants' preferences, needs, accepted beliefs, and current behaviors. AuthorBound's experienced third-party moderators create an objective atmosphere for discussion while real-time individual responses to key questions are captured in the online Discussion Guide while the conversations take place. The client can quietly observe in listen-only mode or be seated at the table to become part of the discussion. Each event is digitally recorded, with an mp3 provided of the recorded results. An Executive Summary can also be created upon request.

Live Focus Groups

Professionally moderated Live Focus Groups can be set up, hosted, and executed at a variety of locations including AuthorBound's offices in Arizona, at the client's location, in a vacation setting, or as part of a professional conference.
